Obituary* | 23 Jan 1991 | Charles Clifton Culpepper, Jr. , 81, of the 4500 block of Wake Forest Road, a retired equipment specialist, died 21 Jan 1991, in a hospital. Mr. Culpepper, a Portsmouth native, retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Shop 31, after 39 years. He was a Baptist and a member of Seaboard Masonic Lodge 56, A.F. & A.M; past high priest of Mount Horeb Royal Arch 11; past commander of Portsmouth Commandery 5; and a charter member of Scottish Rite Bodies. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Pegram Culpepper; a daughter, Ruth Culpepper Coulbourne of Plano, Texas; three sisters, Charlotte Culpepper Hutchins and Ocie Culpepper Westbrook, both of Portsmouth, and Lola Culpepper Coffin of Sun City, Ariz; and three grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, by the Rev. S.E. Hathaway III. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8 p.m. today in Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, and other times at the residence. Memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity.4 |
