Mrs. Annie F. Wife of Richard Culpeper died Monday afternoon (19 Mar 1894) at the residence of her husband on Randolph Street, in Norfolk, after a short illness, in the 40th year of her age. Mrs. Culpeper was a daughter of Mr. Charles Creekmore, who conducted business in this city for a number of years. She too was a resident up to a few years ago. The remains will be brought to this city today for interment.1 |

He was a retired carpenter from the Naval Shipyard. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church. Surviving are three daughters Mrs. Ethel C Davis of Mobjack, Mrs. Essie N. Bridges, of Portsmouth and Mrs. Kenneth Edens, of Toccoa, Ga; one son, Joseph W. Culpepper, of Portsmouth, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Bunting, of Portsmouth, and Mrs. Maggie James, of Mobjack, 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The body was taken to Brennan Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 10 a. m. at St. Teresa Catholic Church. Rosary services will be conducted at the funeral home Wednesday at 8 p. m. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery.10 |

homemaker, died Dec. 22, 1992, in a Suffolk nursing home. Mrs. Davis was born in Portsmouth and was the widow of John C. Davis. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, the Missionary Circle and the Maude Bailey Sunday School Class and Order of the Eastern Star, Tidal Wave Chapter. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette D. Sword and Howard Sword of Blacksburg, Va; a granddaughter, Mary Kendall Sword Cumings of Stone Mountain, Ga; and a great-granddaughter, Catherine Jeanette Cumings. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dicie Bell Culpepper and Alexander Culpepper. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m.
Saturday in Snellings Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Philip J. Parker. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund in her name.9 |
