Minter and Larry Minter, both of Portsmouth; six sisters, Emma Grimes, Mildred Suttle, Louise Atkins and Vivian Campbell, all of Portsmouth and Helen Varsal of Colorado and Ada Brown of California; two brothers, James Culpepper of Portsmouth and Robert Culpepper of Ohio; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Pinecrest Baptist Church by the Rev. Tom Potter. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. Friends may join the family from 7 to 9 p.m. today in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Boulevard Chapel.4 |

Vivian was an avid bowler. She was secretary of the Friday Night Mixed League for over 30 years, loved bowling and bowling tournaments, and was inducted into the Bowlers Hall of Fame. Survivors include four children, Stephen Baker (Nancy), Diane Mathena (Roger), B.L. Campbell (Denise), and B.L. Campbell and special daughter-in-law, Joanne; three sisters; one brother; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Angie Batten, Desiree Brown, and Sharon, for the care they provided Vivian.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.5 |

Culpepper; a daughter, Colleen Crawford; three sons, Jimmy Culpepper and wife Cathy, Jeff Culpepper and wife Teresa, and Wayne Culpepper; four sisters, Vivian Campbell and husband Robert, Louise Atkins, Helen Varsel, Ada Brown; one brother, Robert "Buddy" Culpepper and wife Joan; grandchildren, Jason Culpepper, Mark Crawford, Wayne Culpepper and wife Elizabeth, Jill Branch and husband Matthew, Casey Hicks and husband Gregory; and a great-grandson, Christian Branch. He was predeceased by a grandson, Kenny MacKenzie; three sisters, Emma Grimes, Thomasine Minter and Mildred Suttle. A funeral service, with U.S. Air Force honors, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 3 at Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth. The family will received friends at the funeral home Monday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Not only was Jane a good cook, she was willing to share her special recipes with others to enjoy. Her family and friends were most important to her and she was always willing to give her unconditional love and support. She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Culpepper Spruill and husband, Walt, of Manteo, NC, a daughter-in-law, Gail Bass Culpepper of Southern Shores, NC, three grandchildren, Jane Hunter Spruill-Causey and husband, Ron, of Edenton, NC, Stephen Tyler Culpepper of Raleigh, NC, and Anna Catherine Culpepper of Raleigh, NC; two great grandchildren, William Levin Causey and Avera Collins Causey both of Edenton, NC. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Catherine Culpepper Hudgins; a son, Stephen Hall Culpepper, a sister, Van Jones, and a brother, Trim Aydlett. Due to the current conditions associated with the Covid-19 Pandemic, the family will be having a private graveside service in West Lawn Memorial Park.1 |

She was a former teacher at Kitty Hawk Elementary School and was also a real estate broker with Beach Realty. She was a member of the Outer Banks Board of Realtors and St. Andrew's by the Sea Episcopal Church. Mrs. Hudgins was the daughter of Levin B. and Jane Aydlett Culpepper of Elizabeth City and the wife of Frank W. Hudgins of the home. Besides her husband and parents, Mrs. Hudgins is survived by one sister, Nancy Culpepper Spruill of Nags Head; one brother, Stephen H. Culpepper of Southern Shores; one niece; and two nephews. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Andrew's by the Sea Episcopal Church, Nags Head, by the Rev. Hilary West.
