Emanuel County

History
In the Lower Coastal Plains Region of Georgia,
Emanuel County was formed in 1812 from
Bulloch and Montgomery
Counties. Its county seat,
Swainsboro, is on
US-1 about 175 miles southeast of Atlanta and 90 miles WNW of Savannah. Emanuel is bordered by the counties of
Jefferson, Burke,
Jenkins, Bulloch,
Candler, Toombs,
Treutlen and Johnson.
