History
In the Upper
Coastal Plains Region of Georgia,
Johnson County was formed in 1858 from
Emanuel,
Laurens and Washington.. Its county seat,
Wrightsville, is on
US-319 about 140 miles southeast of Atlanta and 40 miles east of Macon. Johnson is bordered by the counties of
Washington, Jefferson,
Emanuel, Treutlen,
Laurens
and Wilkinson.
