Florence County
History
In the eastern South
Carolina part of the Coastal Plains region, Florence County was formed
in 1888 from Marion, Darlington,
Clarendon and Williamsburg Counties.
Its county seat, the town of Florence, is at the intersection of I-95
and I-20, about 90 miles north of Charleston and 70 miles east of
Columbia. Florence County is bordered by the counties of Darlington,
Marlboro, Dillon, Marion, Williamsburg,
Clarendon, Sumter and
Lee.

TIMMONSVILLE - Terry Oneil Wilson, 46, died March 5, 2002
in a Florence hospital. Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home, Florence, is
in charge. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Barbara
Wilson Memorial Fund for Terry Wilson, First Citizens National Bank, 276
South Irby St., Florence, SC 29506. Mr. Wilson was born in Florence
County, a son of Lucille Stokes Wilson and the late Willie Wilson.
Surviving are wife, Barbara Culpeper Wilson; mother; son, Eric
Wilson; daughter, Tonya Wilson; stepdaughter, Amy Culpeper; brothers,
William and Jerry Wilson; sister, Gail Matney. |
