History

In the middle South Carolina part of the Sand Hills region, Lee County was formed in 1902 from Darlington, Sumter and Kershaw counties. Its county seat, the town of Bishopville, is on I-20, about 70 miles SSE of Charlotte, NC, and 50 miles east of Columbia. Lee County is bordered by the counties of Kershaw, Darlington, Florence and Sumter.
