History
In the Piedmont Region of Georgia,
Spalding County was formed in 1851 from
Fayette, Henry and
Pike Counties. Its county seat,
Griffin, is on
US-19/US-41 about 40 miles south of Atlanta and 75 miles northwest of Columbus. Spalding is bordered by the
counties of
Fayette,
Clayton,
Henry,
Butts, Lamar,
Pike, Meriwether and
Coweta.
