Henry County
History
In the Piedmont Region of Georgia
as well as part of the modern Atlanta metro area,
Henry County was formed in 1821 as an original
county from the Creek cession of that year. Its county seat, McDonough, is on
US-23 about 30 miles SSE of Atlanta. Henry is bordered by the
counties of DeKalb, Rockdale,
Newton, Butts,
Spalding and
Clayton.
