History
In the Piedmont Region of Georgia,
Lamar County was formed in 1920 from
Monroe and Pike Counties. Its county seat,
Barnesville, is on
US-41 about 60 miles south of Atlanta and 35 miles northwest of Macon. Lamar is bordered by the
counties of Spalding, Butts,
Monroe,
Upson and
Pike.
