Berrien County was formed in 1856 from
Lowndes,
Irwin and Coffee Counties. Its county seat,
Nashville, is on US-129 about 215 miles SSE of Atlanta and 90 miles northeast of Tallahassee, FL. Berrien is bordered by the counties of
Irwin,
Coffee,
Atkinson, Lanier,
Lowndes,
Cook and Tift.
