Lew,
This is something you might be interested in..I found a page reproduced of the original List No. 87, page 92, Wadeschweil, Switzerland.
I kept finding to dates for the departure of the Theiler family from Switzerland.. on 1739 and on 1744.
When you read this page you will see how it could have happened, But if you study this page however, you will see the departure date is April 1739...this Pastor Jos. Caspar Hofmeister was giving a account of those who left his parish. This letter was written April 10, 1744 same year 1744, as were the others listed on the page.
They were recording names and dates of people from their parishes who migrated before 1744. (it seems the pastor did not like that)
I see both dates listed as departure dates online, but I am convinced the correct one is April 1739.
Thought you might find this document helpful.

In 1742, he sent a letter back to Wadeschweil in which he praised his good fortune and the new land. In Jan 1745/6, Jacob acquired 150 acres of land: "Read the Petition of Jacob Theiler of SaxGotha Township, setting forth that the Petit'r has in increase of three children in his family for whom as yet he hath not had any land assigned him by virtue of Family Right and therefore humbly prays his Excell'cy & their Honours that 150 acres of land be laid out to him in the Township of SaxGotha, joyning to the land of the Savannah Hunt Mill... the prayer of this petition was granted." 3 Jacob Theiler died in Saxe Gotha, SC in 1778. His will named his wife, Magdaleen; three daughters mentioned but not named; grandsons, sons of Randolph Theiler: John, Jacob, and Herman (Randolph was then deceased). Executors were sons-in-law Herman Geiger, Jacob Geiger, Jr., and William Geiger. |

It is unusual to see an over-40 woman having children in SC in the 18th century, but I can think of a few who did: rare, but possible. Ann Theiler may be somewhat younger than assumed. The Theilers had three children in SC by 1746 (per land petition), but there is no particular reason to believe that Ann was among them, or that they had no later children. Since she was married to Jacob Geiger by 1765 (per a deed signed by both), she was born no later than 1750. Her second husband, William Geiger, was born AFTER 1746, since that's when his godmother Rosina Roth (later Manning, then Hamilton) first arrived in SC. While men occasionally married an older wife, this was very uncommon. A birthyear of ~1748-9 for Ann Theiler would be compatible with her first marriage by 1765, the post-1746 birthdate of her second husband, and also with her having a child as late as 1795.
