Evans County
History
In the Lower Coastal Plains Region of Georgia,
Evans County was formed in 1914 from
Bulloch and Tattnall
Counties. Its county seat,
Claxton, also known as the "Fruitcake Capital of the
World", is on US-280 about 200 miles
southeast of Atlanta and 50 miles west of Savannah. Evans is bordered by the counties of
Candler,
Bulloch,
Bryan, Liberty and
Tattnall.
