Biography* | | From Mike Murphy, May 2008: When I was growing up, we never went to Moultrie without visiting Carrie’s two sisters and their husbands, while they were still alive. One of her sisters was my father’s Aunt Pearl Harris. She was married to J. Strozier Harris. I remember that she always had a new Cadillac parked in her circular drive whenever we’d go to her house. If they had any children, I am not aware of it. I don’t remember any mention of children they may have had, and I never met any, that I recall.2 |

Biography* | | Oscar was listed as having been born in 1873 in the 1900 census but this was the same year of that his brother, William Frank Cooper, was born. But Oscar was listed as eight years old in the 1880 census and his brother was listed as seven years old so they do not appear to have been twins. Based on being eight years of age at the time of the 1880 census and 38 at the time of the 1910 census, Oscar was probably born in the last half of 1871. A "Oscar Cooper" was baptised 22 Oct 1884 by J. W. Wells according to The Church Register of the Wesley Chapel Methodist Episcopal Church, South Colquitt County, Georgia by Lee Collins Hale, Nov 1978. He was removed by order of church conference in 1898. The last notice that we have of Oscar is in the obituary of his father. "O. L. Cooper" was listed as living in Autreyville, Colquitt Co, GA. He must have died before 1949 since he was not listed as a surviving brother in the obituary of W. F. Cooper. |

Death* | 1936 | She died at Georgia in 1936. |
Biography* | | The name is recorded as "Webb, Lugenia" in The Church Register of the Wesley Chapel Methodist Episcopal Church, South Colquitt County, Georgia by Lee Collins Hale, Nov 1978. She was received by certificate by J. W. Wells 24 Aug 1884. But she was listed as Ugenia and Eugenia in 1900 and 1910 census records. The 1910 census listed her as having had six children, four of whom were still living. But it also indicated that this was her second marriage. It is not clear whether Webb was her maiden or married name. Since she was not listed as Mrs. Webb in church records, possibly Webb was her maiden name. Three children were listed in the 1900 census in the Oscar Cooper household who were born before Oscar and his wife were married: Kinkeus born Oct 86 Gordon born Nov 89 Thurman born Aug 87 Presumably these three children were from Eugenia's first marriage. Only five of Eugenia's six children have been accounted for. And it is not known which of the three children by her first marriage might have died. |

He was listed as "John A." in the 1900 census of Colquitt Co., GA. He was listed as "J. H. Cooper" in the obituary of his father, W. T. T. Cooper, on p. 2 of the Moultrie Observer 18 Aug 1927. And although he was not listed as a surviving brother in the 1949 obituary of his brother, W. F. Cooper, he was listed as "J. M. Cooper" in the 1957 obituary of his brother, W. B. Cooper. There is also a question about the wife of John. Mrs. F. D. (Betty Lee Collins) Hale listed no wife for John but Mrs. W. A. (Ora Cooper) Bond listed his wife as Bessie Lyles whom Lee listed as the wife of John's brother C. D. Cooper. This needs to be clarified with 1910 and 1920 census records. |
