Obituary* | 21 Jun 2004 | Bertha Helen Culpepper, 96, of Pine Bluff, died Saturday, June 19, 2004, at Trinity Village Medical Center. She was born Sept. 11, 1907, at New York, a daughter of the late Ignatius Hornak and Bertha Dvorak Hornak.
She was reared and educated at Meadville, Penn., and graduated from Allegheny College at Meadville. She moved to Pine Bluff in 1929 where she taught school at Sherrill and St. Joseph Annunciation Academy at Pine Bluff. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Altar Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Wesley Culpepper Sr., whom she married on Nov. 11, 1930, at Pine Bluff; a daughter, Kay Francis Culpepper; a brother, Robert Hornak; a grandson; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, John Wesley "Jack" Culpepper Sr; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
A rosary service will be at 6 p.m. today at Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Monsignor Jack Harris officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic School, P.O. Box 7434, Pine Bluff, AR 71611 or Trinity Village Medical Center, 6400 Trinity Drive, Pine Bluff, AR 71603.1 |
