J R T: "Catherine Withens, according to Larking, was said to be the offspring of the guilty intercourse [of her mother] with Culpeper [Sir Thomas Culpeper of Aylesford]" Her mother Elizabeth later married Sir Thomas Colepeper on 23 August 1704. (Married 23 August 1704 at Boughton Monchelsea, Kent, Sir Thomas Colepeper & Dame Elizabeth Withens.)
Sir Thomas Twysden had two daughters by Catherine Wythens; Frances born 1711 who married George Ogle and Catherine born (posthumously) 7 December 1712, who married George Cooke on 4 July 1735. Neither of these were mentioned in the 1734 will of Dame Alicia Taylor. However Dame Alicia did leave legacies to all four children of Catherine Wythens by her second husband Brigadier General George Jocelyn.3 |
