Swisher County
County History and Geography
In the transition area between the South Plains and the Panhandle,
Swisher County was formed in 1876 (organized
in 1890) from Bexar and Young Territories. Tulia, the county seat, is on
I-27, about 70 miles north of Lubbock and 45 miles south of Amarillo.
Swisher is bordered on the counties of Randall,
Armstrong, Briscoe,
Hale, Floyd and
Castro.
