County History and Geography

In the Rolling Plains Region of the Texas Panhandle, Briscoe County was formed in 1876 from the Bexar and Young Territories. Its county seat, Silverton, is on TX-86, about 60 miles SE of Amarillo. Briscoe is bordered by the counties of Armstrong, Donley, Hall, Motley, Floyd and Swisher.
