Armstrong County

County History and Geography

 In the High Plains and Tablelands Regions of the Texas Panhandle, Armstrong County was formed in 1876 (organized in 1890) from the Bexar and Young territories. Its county seat, Claude, is on US-287 about 30 miles east of Amarillo. Armstrong is bordered by the counties of Carson, Donley, Briscoe, Swisher and Randall.
