Randolph County

County History and Geography

In the Piedmont Region and the central part of North Carolina, Randolph County was formed in 1779 from Guilford County. Asheboro, its county seat, is on US-220, about 70 miles west of Raleigh and 70 miles northeast of Charlotte. Randolph is bordered by the counties of Chatham, Moore, Montgomery, Davidson, Guilford and Alamance.
