Montgomery County

County History and Geography

In the Piedmont Region and the south central part of North Carolina, Montgomery County was formed in 1779 from Anson County. Troy, its county seat, is about 60 miles east of Charlotte and 80 miles WSW of Raleigh. Montgomery is bordered by the counties of Anson, Moore, Richmond, Stanly, Davidson and Randolph.
