Guilford County
County History and Geography
In the Piedmont Region and the north central part of North Carolina, Guilford County was formed in
1771
from Rowan and Orange Counties.
Greensboro, its county seat, is on I-40 and I-85, about 75 miles west of
Raleigh. Guilford is bordered by the counties of Alamance,
Randolph, Davidson,
Forsyth and Rockingham.
