Cabarrus County
County History and Geography
In the Piedmont Region and the south central part of North Carolina, Cabarrus County was formed in
1792 from Mecklenburg County. Concord, its county seat, is on I-85, about
20 miles northeast of
Charlotte. Cabarrus is bordered by the counties of Stanly,
Union,
Mecklenburg, Iredell and
Rowan.
