Iredell County
County History and Geography
In the Piedmont Region and the central part of North Carolina, Iredell County was
formed in 1788 from Rowan County. Statesville, its county seat, is on
I-77, about 40 miles north of
Charlotte. Iredell is bordered by the counties of Rowan,
Cabarrus, Mecklenburg, Lincoln,
Catawba,
Alexander, Wilkes, Yadkin and Davie.

Iredell Co., NC Culpepper Connection: The first known Culpepper in
Iredell County was James
Wallace Culpepper (1902-1981) (#35123), who had lived in Cullman County, AL earlier in his
life. It is likely that Culpepper Road was named by or for him. |
