Rowan County

County History and Geography

In the Piedmont Region and the central part of North Carolina, Rowan County was formed in 1753 from Anson County. Salisbury, its county seat, is on I-85, about 35 miles northeast of Raleigh. Rowan is bordered by the counties of Davidson, Stanly, Cabarrus, Iredell and Davie.
