Red River Parish
History
In the Uplands region of
northern Louisiana,
Red River Parish was formed in 1871 from
Caddo, Bossier, Bienville,
Natchitoches and De Soto
Parishes. Its
parish seat,
Coushatta, is on
US-71 about 40 miles southeast of Shreveport and 200 miles northwest of Baton Rouge. Red River is bordered by the parishes of
Caddo, Bossier, Bienville,
Natchitoches and De Soto.
