History
In the Uplands
region of northern Louisiana,
Bossier Parish was formed in 1843 from
Claiborne Parish. Its
parish seat,
Benton, is on
LA-3 about 15 miles north of Shreveport and 240 miles northwest of Baton Rouge. Bossier is bordered by the Louisiana parishes of
Webster, Bienville,
Red River and Caddo, as well as by
Lafayette Co., AR.
