Wilcox County was formed in
1857 from Dooly, Irwin and
Pulaski
Counties. Its county seat,
Abbeville, is on
US-129 about 145 miles SSE of Atlanta. Wilcox is bordered by the counties of
Pulaski, Dodge,
Telfair, Ben
Hill, Turner, Crisp and
Dooly.

Obituaries
|
Rebecca W. Tomberlin
ABBEVILLE -- Funeral services for Rebecca W. Tomberlin, 96,
will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2003, in the Abbeville First
Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Stubbs Cemetery. The Revs. Tim
Hill and James Faircloth will officiate the services, directed by
Frazier & Son Funeral Home of Rochelle. Mrs. Tomberlin died Wednesday,
June 18, 2003, in Dorminy Medical Center. Mrs. Tomberlin was born on
Aug. 19, 1906, in Wilcox County. She was the daughter of the late Jim
Wilson and Dovie Bowman Wilson. She was a homemaker and a member of the
Abbeville First Baptist Church, the Euzelian Sunday School Class, the
Joy Makers, the Wilcox County Arts Council and was a charter member of
the Abbeville/Wilcox County Optimist Club. She was chaplain of the
Martha McCleod Chapter 559 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, M. D. Tomberlin in 1980; a
daughter, Gwendolyn Clark in 1988; a grandson, Robbie Clark in 1967, and
seven brothers and sisters. Survivors include a daughter,
Carol Culpepper of Abbeville;
grandchildren, Mike Sherret, Gerry Lynn Griffin and David Clark all of
Fitzgerald, and Ronald Culpepper of
Abbeville; and great-grandchildren, Brian Sherret, Justin Griffin and
Hannah Griffin. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral

Odis L. Culpepper, age 87, of Abbeville, passed away Friday,
August 7, 2009, at his residence. Graveside services will be held at
10:00 a.m. Monday, August 10, 2009, in the Stubbs Cemetery in Abbeville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Stubbs Cemetery, Inc.
Fund, 113 Riverside Drive, Abbeville, GA 31001, Abbeville First Baptist
Church, or Blue Gray Community Hospice, 815 S. Main St., Fitzgerald, GA
