History
In the Upper
Coastal Plains Region of Georgia,
Ben Hill County was formed in 1906 from
Irwin and Wilcox Counties. Its county seat,
Fitzgerald, is on
US-129 about 160 miles SSE of Atlanta and 140 miles west of Savannah. Ben Hill is bordered by the counties of
Wilcox,
Telfair, Coffee,
Irwin
and Turner.
