Taylor County
History
In the Upper
Coastal Plains Region of Georgia,
Taylor County was formed in
1852 from Macon, Marion and Talbot Counties. Its county seat,
Butler, is on
US-19 about 100 miles south of Atlanta and roughly midway between Macon and
Columbus. Taylor is bordered by the counties of
Upson, Crawford, Macon,
Schley, Marion and
Talbot.
