Schley County
History
In the Upper
Coastal Plains Region of Georgia,
Schley County was formed in
1857 from the southeastern corner of Marion County and
the northwestern corner of Sumter County. Its county seat,
Ellaville, is on
US-19 about 125 miles south of Atlanta and 50 miles ESE of Columbus. Schley is bordered by the counties of
Taylor, Macon,
Sumter and Marion.
