Marion County
History
In the Upper
Coastal Plains Region of Georgia,
Marion County was formed in
1827 from Lee and Muscogee
Counties. Its county seat,
Buena Vista, is on
GA-41 about 110 miles south of Atlanta and 30 miles ESE of Columbus. Marion is bordered by the counties of
Talbot, Taylor, Schley,
Sumter, Webster and
Chattahoochee.
