Pickens County
History
In the Piedmont Region of Georgia,
Pickens County was formed in 1853 from Cherokee and
Gilmer Counties. Its county seat,
Jasper, is on
GA-515 about 50 miles north of Atlanta and 70 miles southeast of Chattanooga,
TN. Pickens is bordered by the counties of
Gilmer, Dawson,
Cherokee and
Gordon.
