History
In the Piedmont Region of Georgia,
Hancock County was formed in 1793 from
Greene and Washington
Counties. Its county seat, Sparta, is about 100 miles ESE of Atlanta and 65 miles
ENE of Macon. Hancock is bordered by the counties of
Taliaferro, Warren,
Glascock, Washington,
Baldwin, Putnam and
Greene.
