History
In the Piedmont Region of Georgia,
Putnam County was formed in 1807 from
Baldwin County. Its county seat,
Eatonton, is on
US-441 about 75 miles ESE of Atlanta and 40 miles NNE of Macon. Putnam is bordered by the counties of
Morgan, Greene,
Hancock, Baldwin,
Jones and Jasper.
