History
In the Piedmont Region of Georgia,
Banks County was formed in 1858 from
Franklin and Habersham
Counties. Its county seat,
Homer, is 7 miles north of I-85 and about 75 miles northeast of Atlanta. Banks is bordered by the counties of
Habersham, Stephens,
Franklin, Madison,
Jackson and Hall.
