Madison County

History
In the Piedmont Region of Georgia,
Madison County was formed in 1811 from
Clarke, Elbert,
Franklin, Jackson and
Oglethorpe Counties. Its county seat,
Danielsville, is on
US-29 about 85 miles ENE of Atlanta and 20 miles northeast of Athens. Madison is bordered by the counties of
Franklin,
Hart, Elbert,
Oglethorpe, Clarke,
Jackson and Banks.
