Winkler County
County History and Geography
In the Trans Pecos
Region of west Texas and bordering the southeast corner of New Mexico,
Winkler
County was formed in 1887 (organized 1910) from
Tom Green County. Its county seat, Kermit,
is about 240 miles east of El Paso and 360 miles west of Forth Worth. Winkler is
bordered by the Texas counties of Andrews, Ector,
Ward and Loving, and the New
Mexico county of Lea.
