Andrews County

County History and Geography

Andrews County is located in the High Plains Region of West Texas. It was formed in 1876 (organized 1910) from Young and Bexar Counties. Its county seat, Andrews, is on US-385, about 30 miles northwest of Midland and 200 miles west of Abilene. The county is bordered by the Texas counties of Gaines, Martin, Midland, Ector and Winkler, and the New Mexico county of Lea.
