Duval County

County History and Geography

in the Rio Grande Plain region of South Texas, Duval County was formed in 1858 (organized in 1876) from Nueces, Live Oak, Hidalgo and Starr counties. Its county seat, San Diego, is 50 miles west of Corpus Christi and 90 miles south of San Antonio. Duval County is bordered by the counties McMullen, Live Oak, Jim Wells, Brooks, Jim Hogg and Webb.
