Cumberland County
County History and Geography
In the Inner Coastal Plain and the southeastern part of North Carolina, Cumberland County was formed in
1754
from Bladen County. Fayetteville, its county seat is on I-95 about 50 miles south of
Raleigh. Cumberland County is home of
the US Army's Fort Bragg as well as Pope AFB. Cumberland is bordered by the counties of
Moore, Sampson, Bladen, Robeson,
Hoke,
Harnett and Johnston.
