Oglethorpe County

History
In the Piedmont Region of Georgia,
Oglethorpe County was formed in 1793 from
Wilkes County. Its county seat,
Lexington, is on
US-78 about 80 miles east of Atlanta. Oglethorpe is bordered by the counties of
Madison, Elbert,
Wilkes,
Taliaferro, Greene,
Oconee and Clarke.
