Biography* | | In a 16 Jun 1978 letter, Lena Amsler wrote that the Amlser family migrated to Texas in the early 1830's and "my grandfather [Carl Amsler] fought in the Texas Revolution." From additional notes from Lena, it appears that Carl Amsler was also associated with the formation of the Agricultural Society of Cat Spring, TX in 1856. The Society was founded to help the settlers, many of whom could not read or speak English, with their farming. A memorial was erected by the State of Texas in 1936 which reads: Town of CAT SPRINGS A pioneer German settlement founded in 1832 by members of the Amsler, Klegerg and Von Roeder families. |

She was former co owner and operator of Oxford Inn. She was a 1949 Graduate of Anniston High School and was a member of Parker Memorial Baptist Church where she was in the Betty Everett Sunday School Class and the Women on Mission Group # 10. She is preceded in death by her husband. Paul E. Starr, her parents, Mr & Mrs. S.L. Dean and two brothers, William K. Dean and S.L. Dean. In Lieu of Flowers the family request memorial be made to the Parker Memorial baptist Church building Fund or to the American Cancer Society.3 |
