     Survivors include her husband, Joseph Nathan Pope; a daughter, JoAnne C. Armstrong, and two sons, Stephen D. Culpepper and Joseph N. Pope Jr., all of Chesapeake; three brothers, Leroy N. Culpepper III and Vernon M. Culpepper, both of Chesapeake, and Beverly B. Culpepper of Suffolk; and five grandchildren.
     The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in Deep Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Roscoe A. Musselwhite. Burial will be in the Culpepper family cemetery. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in Sturtevant Funeral Home.6

(He was only one year old, the last of six children, all girls.) And she most certainly did!

Obituary*2 Mar 2005 CHESAPEAKE-Beverly Brooks "DeDe" Culpepper, 86, a Deep Creek native, passed away February 28, 2005 in Norfolk.
     Born in Old Norfolk County, he was the son of the late Leroy and Sue Culpepper and was predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Parker Culpepper. DeDe was a retired testman for C&P Telephone Company with 30 years of service. He was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church.
     He is survived by a daughter, Beverly Ann Wright and husband Peter of Norfolk; a son, Jerry Culpepper and wife Debbie of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren, Bobby Knight, Michael Knight, Lisa Ruley and Amy Culpepper; two great-grandchildren, Timothy Knight and Erin Ruley.
     A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Culpepper Family Cemetery, Old Mill Road, Chesapeake. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Thursday at Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, Great Bridge Chaper, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake.
     A recent message from DeDe's heart, "One thing have I desired of the Lord, that I will seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in His temple."

Those left to remember her are her husband of 34 years, Peter Wright, II; brother, Jerry Culpepper (wife Debbie); children, Robert Knight (wife Nennis "Dee"), Michael Knight, Lisa Knight-Ruley (husband Brian), Kathy Pendleton (husband Tom), Patricia Supko (husband Jay), Allan Wright (wife Georganna) and Carole Wooley. Beverly was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 524 Cedar Rd., Chesapeake with a graveside service following at the Culpepper Family Cemetery. In lieu of a viewing, the family will receive family and friends from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service at Hollomon-Brown, Great Bridge Chapel.6
