Burial* | 27 May 2010 | Her body was interred on 27 May 2010 at Henderson Cemetery, Henderson, Houston Co., Georgia.1 |
Obituary* | 27 May 2010 | HENDERSON - Olivia Grace Culpepper, 7, opened her eyes to a brand new world when she passed away gracefully from the arms of her family into God's mighty hands on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon. She wasn't afraid, and she wasn't hurting. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2P.M. on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Henderson Baptist Church. Reverend Bob Gray, Dr. Robert Woodall, and Reverend Phil Bryant will be officiating. Interment will be in Henderson Cemetery immediately following the service. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Jay's Hope Foundation, Ronald McDonald House of Macon, Joanna McAfee Childhood Cancer Foundation, Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation, or The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Children's Cancer Hospital. Olivia's favorite color was aqua, and the family respectfully requests that anyone who wishes will dress in bright colors for the Celebration Service. Livy was born in Houston County to Alan and Cynthia Smith Culpepper on January 28, 2003. A beautiful and loving child, she had kept Stuffy Bear, her ultimate non-human friend, by her side since she was born. Many times, she and Stuffy would be dressed alike, and she treasured those moments. Olivia was diagnosed with Leukemia on September 11, 2006, and immediately began treatment. Living in and out of hospitals for the past 3 years, she touched many lives of people that she met, and even those she never met, through her Caring Bridge website, http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/oliviaculpepper. With nearly 250 journal pages on her website, her mother always kept everyone updated on her condition. When Olivia was able, she would type herself or dictate her thoughts and feelings to share with those following the life of this angel God had temporarily placed in her parents' care. She enjoyed learning and the time she spent on school work, whether at school or in a hospital. Olivia had a great sense of humor that showed through in even the most difficult of situations. She loved being outdoors, riding her scooter, swinging, flying a kite, or just sitting in a treehouse reading a book with her mother. A creative artist at heart, she enjoyed drawing rainbows, people, and animals, and painting pictures and ceramics. She loved cats, and she loved flying, especially the Angel Flights when she was transported to and from hospitals. Singing was one of her favorite pastimes, including songs from the Disney Wishes CD, Wee Sing Sunday School Songs, and Christmas carols. Olivia loved her church and her peeps who diligently prayed for her. A very caring child, Liv seemed to worry about others more than she did herself. She will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved her, and by so many she never met, who were inspired by her continued courage, strength, and bravery. Along with her parents, Alan and Cindy Culpepper of Henderson, those left to cherish the memories of Olivia are her brother, Drew Culpepper, and sister, Elaina Culpepper, both of Henderson; paternal grandparents, Milton and Margaret Culpepper of Perry; maternal grandparents, Gordon and Sarah Smith of Conyers; paternal great-grandmother, Frances Bowen of Unadilla; aunts and uncles, Lisa and Randy Bearden of Centerville, Angie and Joe Rogero of Kennesaw, Chris Smith, and Wendy Smith, both of Covington; several cousins; and many other relatives in the Middle Georgia area. Friends are invited to offer condolences to the family by signing the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com.1 |
