Obituary of Dora Lee Bean Anderson, published 20 Jan 2007:
Dora Lee Anderson of Louin died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007, at Lackey Memorial Hospital in Forest. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Louin Baptist Church, with burial in Louin Cemetery. She was born Aug. 9, 1915, in Jones County, to the late W.L. and Mary Bean. She was a longtime resident of Louin, where she was an active member of Louin Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star as long as her health permitted. She served as an alderman for the town of Louin and retired from Northern Electric Co. in 1981, after 29 years of service as supervisor of the thermostat department. She was preceded in death by her husband, Truett Anderson; a daughter, Patricia Lee Norton; two sisters, Wilene Culpepper and Jewel Couch; two brothers, Howard Bean and Ralph Bean; and a great-granddaughter, Christi James Sullivan. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Tommie Jean and Bobby Brady; a brother and sister-in-law, George and Elaine Bean; a sister-in-law, Gladys Bean; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bill was born July 22, 1954 to Robert Culpepper, Sr. and Dorothy (Gatta) at Walter Reed Army Hospital, Washington D.C. Bill retired from the Army in May, 2001 as a Command Sergeant Major after 28 years of service. He worked for several defense contractors until his final retirement in 2013 as the Vice President for Global Staffing and Workforce Planning for Triple Canopy Inc, of Herndon, VA. Bill had a great army career. He served with the 82nd Airborne Division, the 1st Ranger Battalion, the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment, and Recruiting Command. Along the way, his assignments included Congressional Escort and as the first NCOIC of the Special Forces Operations Detachment recruiting team. He went to every army school available. He earned the Expert Infantryman Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, and Pathfinder Badge, just to name a few. He was a graduate of the Sergeants Major Academy, the Sere Course and the Jumpmaster Course. He was awarded many medals and decorations, the highest of which was the Legion of Merit (2nd award). Bill continued his education after his army retirement. He earned a Master of Arts in Education and Human Development from The George Washington University in January 2006; the Senior Professional in Human Resources certification in 2008 and the Project Management Professional certification in 2010. Bill was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Eileen Denise (Schoen), his father, and his brother, Robert. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Kae (Perryman); his daughter, Kathleen Denise Davis of Lafayette, LA, her husband Leo, and their children, Gabrielle, Sydney, and Nicholas; his daughter, Carmen Marie Duvall of Abingdon, MD, her husband Chris, and their children Cole and Gianna; his son, Brandon Eugene Culpepper of Baltimore, MD; his mother, Dorothy of Waldorf MD; and his sister, Ann Walker of Clinton, MD. Bill will be remembered by many people he served with and the friends he made along the way. His energy and work ethic were evident in every task he performed. Our thanks to those who reached out to him during his illness with visits, phone calls and emails. The family thanks Dr. Vicki Cooper Baker and the nurses and staff of St Francis Cancer Center, Tulsa, Oklahoma for their unrelenting care and comfort.
