Biography* Obituary:
Robert Anderson Culpepper, age 82, of Jacksonville, FL, was a loving husband, devoted father and grandpa who went home to be with the Lord on December 26, 2002. Robert died peacefully under the loving care of some very wonderful care givers at Cypress Village Nursing Home where he had spent the last three years.
     Mr. Robert was born in Hawkinsville, Georgia, where he lived for most of his life and was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church. He owned and operated a local hardware and appliance store where he served many in the community with great generosity. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of Planter's Bank.
     Survivors include one son, Robert A. Culpepper, Jr. (Patsy) of Jacksonville, FL and one daughter, Carol Terrell (Randy) of Atlanta; four grandchildren, Trey Culpepper, Kristy Culpepper, Carlee Terrell and Ret Terrell.
     Chapel services will be held at 11A.M. Monday, December 30, 2002 in the Clark Funeral Home, Hawkinsville. Visitation will be held at the Clark Funeral Home on Sunday, December 29, 2002 from 3:00 until 5:00P.M. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Hawkinsville First Baptist Church Building Fund. Pallbearers will be Lamar Conner, Will Conner, Chuck Conner, Trey Culpepper, Bob Sanders, Sam Way, Buddy Wright and Earl Ray Ricks. Clark Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.7

After buying partner's interest later in 1945, then bought station formerly operated by Mr. John Forrester from J. B. Cannon, operated same until retirement in January 1980.
     Wife, Eula, died May 1950, and he then married the former Frances Jones DeVane, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar B. Jones, of Americus in January 1953. She had two children, William L. DeVane and Phyllis Anne DeVane, both of which now are married. They have eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
     Mr. Culpepper was elected Lee County Coroner in 1954 and is still serving in that capacity, was elected to the Leesburg City Council in 1973, still serving on same, was elected a member of the Lee County Democratic Executive Committee in 1974 and elected treasurer at the death of Jack Forrester, and is presently serving in that capacity. Also, was elected General Chairman of Leesburg Centennial Committee in 1974.
     Mr. Culpepper was elected to Board of Directors of Lee County Primary Health Care Incorporated in 1976, served until merger into Albany Area Primary Health Care, where was elected as the first Chairman of the Board of Directors, which operated three up-to-date clinics, served as Chairman until November 1981, when was elected Treasurer and Member of the Board of Directors: was elected to Board of Directors of Albany Metropolitan Planning Commission in 1975, still serving on same except for lapse of two years.
     Mr. and Mrs. Culpepper are members of Leesburg Methodist Church and Heyward Cook, Sr. Sunday School Class. Mr. Culpepper has been a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason since 1945.

Culpepper, 81, died Sunday, 21 May 2000. Born in Crisp County, he was a retired sergeant with Georgia State Patrol. He was a charter member of Cordele VFW, and was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and DAV Peace Officers Association. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Culpepper; children, Rick Culpepper of Vienna, and Tom Culpepper, Ann (Culpepper) Clark and Fredrica (Culpepper) Darsey, all of Cordele; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the residence.8 
Burial*23 May 2000 His body was interred on 23 May 2000 at Ebenezer Cemetery, Cordele, Crisp Co., Georgia.3
