Lovie Chamberlain was the daughter of Charles Chamberlain (died 1834) and Courtney Trafton. Courtney Trafton was the daughter of Charles Gardner Trafton and Lovey McPherson. John D. Gordan and Courtney Culpepper lived in Camden County, NC. I believe Courtney's forebears lived in Camden or Currituck Counties.
All of this information came from the Gordan family Bible and an old family tree belonging to my grandmother, who was Courtney Culpepper's granddaughter."
