Obituary*1 Mar 1985 Mrs. Vera Payne, of Berryhill Road, Milton, died early Friday morning at her residence after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Payne was a native of Georgia but had resided in Santa Rosa county for the past 80 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Milton.
     Survivors included four sons, Guy Payne of Macon, GA, Samuel L. Payne of Jacksonville, Fla., Richard W. Payne of Milton and Thomas J. Payne of McClenny, Fla; four daughters, Mrs. Anna Vera O'Neal and Mrs. Elizabeth Grant, both of Pensacola, Mrs. Nell Mitchell of Port St. Joe, Fla., and Mrs. Patricia Wolfe of Durango, Colorado; 21 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren.
     Funeral services wll be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the First Baptist Church of Milton with The Rev. Joe Bamberg and Rev. Ken Harrison officiating.
     Burial will be in the Milton Cemetery with Lewis Funeral Home directing. Active pallbearers will be Gerald Lee, Tildon Chavers, Harvey Chavers, Ray Helms, Lewis Bass and Earl Lewis. Honorary pallbearers will be Woodrow Melvin, Hasting Glover, O. L. Windham, J. Michael Kerrigan, Dr. William N. Watson, Dr. H. M. Meredith and Don Sheppard.4
