Walker County
County History and Geography
In the Oakwoods and
Prairies Region of east Texas, Walker
County was formed in 1846 from Montgomery
County. Its county seat,
Huntsville,
is on I-45, about 75 miles north of Houston. Walker is bordered by the counties
of Madison, Houston,
Trinity, San Jacinto,
Montgomery and Grimes.
